Ganesh
Utsav
“LALBAUGCHA RAJA (The Emperor of Lalbaug)” is name of the popular Ganesh Idol of “LALBAUGCHA RAJA SARVAJANIK GANESHOTSAV MANDAL”. The preparations for Ganeshotsav 2007 have been already started since June 2007. In order to offer proper DARSHAN of the Lalbaugcha Raja to its devotees, proper arrangements are made by the Mandal. Mandal takes necessary precautions so that no inconvenience is caused to the devotees. Approximately 1200 residents have enrolled their names as “SAHAKARI SABHASAD” (Volunteers) to help the Mandal in managing the Ganeshotsav. A special 'Disaster Management Training'is imparted to some volunteers to handle any unforeseen calamity.
Arrangements for Ganeshotsav 2007 :
The arrangements for the devotees who wish to make a vow to the Lalbaugcha Raja, is similar to the arrangements made for Ganeshotsav 2006. They can enter the “PANDAL” (compound) from the back side of the stage from Narayan Udyog Bhavan. To reach there, the devotees coming from Chinchpokli / Byculla can use Dr.Ambedkar Marg, Dattaram Lad Marg, G.D.Ambekar Marg and then Dinshaw Petit Marg (Ambewadi). The devotees coming from Curry Road / Lower Parel (East side) can use Saibaba Path, G.D.Ambekar Marg and then Dinshaw Petit Marg (Ambewadi).
The arrangements for other devotees who wants to have MUKH DARSHAN of the Lalbaugcha Raja, have been modified this year. To have Darshan of the Ganapati, these devotees are supposed to enter the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Ground (popularly known as GARAMKHADA) which is on Dr. Ambedkar Marg. Special arrangements have been made in the ground so that these devotees do not find any difficulty in the queue.
